“How to” for presenting, key points.

Notes taken from http://www.brightcarbon.com/events/presenter-master-class-how-to-be-a-better-presenter/

Some concepts that I was aware of but not to this extent : perceptual psychologyelaborate rehearsalfusiform face area, and change blindness.

visual and auditory channel with information combination gives the best results.

If using bullet points, pause, let audience read then add your own insights, otherwise you do not need to be there!
Or, talk to blank screen and use bullet points as a summary.
Use visual slides with best use of animation to communicate the combined message. Combination of visuals and narrative, both streams working together.

Make it about the audience not about “me the presenter”, what do they want to see and learn, what do your audience want from your presentation?

Test audience should be impartial and not know the content to see if they “get it” at the end.

About Shaun Farrell

I have been involved in the construction sector since 1986 and over the years I have seen things change dramatically. Much of the change has been directly as a result of technology. This blog will be about the key combinations of People, Process and Technology. Any views expressed here are strictly my own.
