There are many options available in the collaboration space, and they offer a diverse range of features and functionality. What key features do you look for? For example:
Server side processing (publishing)
Support for multiple CADD platforms
Integration with Windows features such as SharePoint and Active Directory
Automatic File Naming
Key Outcomes/business requirements:
When moving a business to a collaborative model whereby work is shared between multiple offices and regions what key outcomes and business requirements should be defined?
Project cost savings
Ability to share work with low cost centres
Better project outcomes due to a single source of truth for data.
Implementation and enforcement of standards

Newforma gets a mention for possible control over data speed. Never heard that as a comment before.

Build talent from a global pool.

You have to have check in and check out for collaboration. if you just download a file and then put it on a windows server, thats not collaboration as its then copies and not a single source of truth. The data needs to be in sync and with an Audit trail.
Cytrix getting a lot of mentions, rather than take the data to the user, bring the user to the data.
Do you have a fat pipe? Then it means it might affect your capability to collaborate?
